Anne Magill at Dunhill, Bourdon House

6th – 26th October 2011

Anne Magill has created a series of new works inspired by photographs and designs from the archives of Alfred Dunhill.  The collection of paintings will be showcased at Bourdon House, the London Home of Alfred Dunhill in October 2011.

“My paintings have always been about those quiet moments, trying to catch the second where someone is lost in their own world.  Being given access to the Dunhill archive allowed me to see the history behind the company and the fact that their motivations haven’t changed from the past, but have adapted to suit modern life. It is an ethos that I share; my work is not cutting edge nor is it traditional. I think I’m somewhere in between the two.

This work revolves around a series of paintings inspired from the Dunhill collections past and present. There are nods to explorers like Shackleton, which will be expanded into a larger collection of works in the future, and there are also my signature pieces – the strong characters caught in a still moment, beautifully dressed.”
